American Girl Videos

I was hesitant about watching the American Girl videos as they truly are for the 8 + age group, however, I ordered what was available on Netflix and was pleasantly surprised at how well they were put together.  I really enjoyed watching them as they really gave the dolls more personality than just cutesy rubber dolls draped with cutesy doll clothes atop a shelf.

I watched the rented Molly DVD and purchased the Kit Kittredge DVD and will probably purchase all the DVD's that go with the dolls in our collection.  This collection will truly be a great gift to my niece's someday.

Mia's Coming Home Tomorrow

We are so excited, Mia is coming home tomorrow.  We found Mia, NIB, only 3 miles from home.  Two Mia dolls were purchased by a 9 year old girl who knew she would be retired soon and she could make a little extra cash.  How lucky for me to find her and at a very reasonable price.    She will definitely be a welcomed addition to our family of American Girl Dolls.  She will be needing her silver performance dress and skates, which we will probably find on Ebay or Amazon.

Can't wait to bring her home after work tomorrow.

In Search of Mia

I have decided to start collecting some of the retired dolls for my collection if I can find them new in the box and at a reasonable cost.  Mia St. Clair, retired in December of '08, is first on the list.  Mia was first unveiled on the Oprah Winfrey show November '07.  I've always enjoyed figure skating and think Mia would be a great addition to the start of my collection.  She's just an adorable doll with some fun accessories.  In addition to finding Mia, I hope to at least get the starter accessories with the ice skates.

Shopping Day

Today I went shopping and bought some new outfits and accessories. I purchased the beret and mittens for Kit and the gorgeous new Midnight Holly Winter Party outfit.  It has a black velour bodice and gold brocade bubble skirt and detachable black fur colar and adorable black satin shoes with gold bows.

When I arrived home from work, Kit's wool coat had arrived that I purchased new from Ebay all the way from San Antonio, TX. The coat was sold out in the stores and not expected to arrive back until June '09.

Well, now that I have these new clothing items I don't have any dolls to put them on...and that means I'll have to add a few more dolls to the collection because we don't want these cute outfits to just sit in a box.  I'm thinking long haired blonde for the Black Velvet and Gold dress.  I will have to think about who will be wearing the wool coat, beret & mittens for the winter.

Furry Friends

What would little girls do without furry little friends to love and play with.  Emily just fell in love with Sugar, a little Yorkshire Terrier and of course Kit fell in love with Coconut, a little White Scottish Terrior.  What sweet puppies and virtually maintenance free.

Welcome to Our World of American Girl Dolls

We have started our American Girl Doll collection.  So far this month we have brought Emily Bennett into our home.  We fell in love with Kit Kittredge and had to add her to our family too.

Emily was our first because she is from the United Kingdom and since I am half English felt it appropriate to have part of my heritage in the American Girl Doll collection.  Besides, she is just adorable.  Kit was another immediate favorite as she is such a perky looking little girl and has an adorable wardrobe and accessories.  Yes, I really do think I am becoming a child again.  But, that's ok since I really am not into dressing them up or changing their outfits from the original ones they came in.  Although, the holidays may reveal a different story.
